Cotton made in Africa

The Cotton made in Africa yarn

Cotton made in Africa

Our concern for “Social Business” and sustainability, led us to start producing yarns from Cotton made in Africa. Cotton made in Africa (CmiA) is an Aid Trade Foundation initiative that was established in 2005. Its objective is to support African smallholder cotton farmers through sustainable cultivation methods to increase theis yield and income.

Environmental footprint
CmiA cotton has a far smaller environmental footprint than conventionally grown cotton, as it is cultivated according to sustainable farming criteria. It generates up to 70% less greenhouse gas emissions and uses zero liters of fresh water. It supports production with natural fertilizers, and is harvested only by hand.
CmiA is processed into apparel and home textiles in production markets worldwide.
